One of the first things we teach in our volunteer training is the importance of names. We stress that all volunteers work to pronounce the names of all campers correctly, even if it's a name they aren't familiar with, in order to show kids how much we care and respect their individuality and existence as equals. In order to relay this message, we often share this video by Key & Peele that shows what it is like to have someone constantly mispronounce your name, and the ignorance it reveals when no effort is made to learn the correct pronunciation
